The past two weeks or so has been hell.. for me at least..
I could usually just role with the punches.. I could usually just brush this off and just deal with it as it is.. just keep on fighting the good fight and all that crap... but now i just really just want to stop and just be like a hard headed spoiled little three year old that's throwing tantrums because he didn't get a freakin candy... I want to just lie down in a cave somewhere and hibernate and let the world pass by without worrying about anything... i just want to just not deal with all this.. its hasn't been a good few weeks... Nothing really major happened, just a bunch of little things.. little things that usually does not phase me. but i guess, its the little things that get you..

  • BIOCHEMISMS: A LETTER TO A FUTURE COLLEAGUE
    by: Dr.Noel Martin Bautista

    Dear Future Colleague,

At this point, I know you find yourself in a bind. You are lost and seem to find no sense in it at all.

Take this advice. Just think of medical education as one big biochemical reaction. To succeed, you have to overcome one huge Energy of Activation, one that seems too high, seemingly insurmountable.

Just like most reactions, you will need catalysts. What these may depend solely on you – they may be the support of your family, your friends and barkada, the love of a special one, frat brods, It can just be prayers!

And yes, since most reactions of anabolism (creating something) are endergonic, you will need energy, lots of it!

The bump will be sharp, almost endless. You will meet a lot of inhibitors that will compete for your attention, drive even determination.

The substrates will be high - a lot of sacrifices, financial resources, time, sleepless nights, even broken relationships.

    But j...

  • 08/15/09--21:26: Nuts!!!! (chan 2850808)
  • Proof that the World has gone Nuts!

In Lebanon, men are legally allowed to have sex with animals, but the animals must be female. Having sexual relations with a male animal is punishable by death.   (Like THAT makes sense.)

In Bahrain, a male doctor may legally examine a woman's genitals, but is prohibited from looking directly at them during the examination. He may only see their reflection in a mirror.

    (Do they look different reversed?)

Muslims are banned from looking at the genitals of a corpse. This also applies to undertakers. The sex organs of the deceased must be covered with a brick or piece of wood at all times.

    (A brick?)

The penalty for masturbation in Indonesia is decapitation.

First time I fired a gun today.. yay! I've only had theoretical knowledge on how to handle a gun since I was twelve. Today is the first time I actually got to fire one.. Dad brought us to a firing range in macapagal avenue to teach me how to use his .45 incase of a burglary attempt. Our street isn't exactly the safest one in the subdivision. If there's an attempt, at least me or mom could defend our home.
Things learned today:I'm a pretty good shot at 5 meters.. a little too close for comfort if the house is being robbed.. Have trouble hitting the right shoulder(closest one i got was probably just a grazing shot) at 10 meters, but can hit every other part easily (even the head, which was a much smaller target).. weird.. must practice that one..
well, at least if there's a zombie apocalypse I'd have no trouble killing them off..   *Mental note:  aim for the burglars' LEFT shoulder*
I'll try 15 meters next time, which is I guess the limit effective range of ...

Almost hit a pedestrian at 4 in the morning. I think i might have a big blind spot on my left upper visual field, I don't notice things placed there until its too late. If it wasn't for my half a sleep co-pilot I would have squished the poor guy (Thanks wix!).
Also saw an old honda civic squished that very same morning near BFRV. If a driver was in there I doubt he would have made it. 0_o
And then again on my way back to UST almost hit a toddler CROSSING A BUSY HIGHWAY. (Irresponsible parents!!! gah! If you can't keep an eye on your kids put them on a leash!!! keep them off the road!!!)

And last but not least but not least, I saw a 98 corolla's engine engulfed in 5 foot flames near star city. It was the kind of car fire that you'd only see in movies.. that was kewl! haha! poor owner though, hope he got out in time.. They extiguished the fire before I could take any pictures :( ah well..
Stay safe on the road guys!.. It's been a weird weekend driving..

c5 peeps, tell me agad if you want to change anything..

First day of swim training.. YAY! had both gastocnemius and my foot extensors CRAMP UP ALL AT THESAME TIME!!! I couldn't walk properly for about 15 minutes.. BOO.. (that was a first.. 0_o).. did a little kumigata with the nursing judokans.. then went to Titan Basketball game after... was a busy night... T_T now.. i can't extend my arms straight up... this is gonna hurt MORE in the morning... :|

Some of you knew that I underwent optha consult because I noticed a blind spot on my right upper visual field.. well after a very painful anatomic eye exam and a boring perimetry test session... and the results are in..
found out that my visual field really is abnormal.. hmmm.. nothing physically wrong with the eye itself.. (except for my myopia) which is a good thing.. :) but it might also mean that there might be something wrong with more internal structures (nerves and brain) which is a bad thing.. T_T

well, at least I get to ride the MRI machine..YAY!(?)  always been curious how it feels to be inside a long cylindrical magnetic tube.. never had a reason to do it before.. now I have! will try to get it done this saturday.. hope its nothing serious *fingers cross* :)

P.S. kung sino man dyan malakas ang impluwensya sa itaas, kelangan ko ang inyong mga panalangin! salamat :)

Well, anatomically speaking that is.. :)) just got my MRI results.. they found nothing to explain my peripheral vision loss.. I still don't know what's wrong with me.. I think the next differentials to this is degenerative or congenital diseases.. I hope its the later.. I don't want to be a degenerate(that was a joke! haha! ha.. hehe.. he.. ho.. *sigh*) but seriously.. I don't want to slowly deteriorate over the years and not be able to do something bout it.. (most degenerative diseases I can think of are progressive and incurable)
on a lighter note at least we can all but rule out cancer and other space occupying lesions.. AND I got to ride the MRI machine (that was was cool!) AND I get a snap shot of my brain (my cerebellum is kinda cute! :p)  something to show my grand kids in the future.. ("see kids, this is you're grandpa's brain when he was 23 years old...")
Ah well..  off to more testing and asking other doctors second opinion... hope I find out what's really...

Friday: went to Edsa Shang for Neuro Optha check-up at American Eye Center.. and still no real diagnosis. Doctor there said only thing he can do is to monitor if my vision loss is progressive so I must return there next month.. *blargh*  said might it be congenital, or a single event non progressive loss of vision (stroke or trauma.. can't say I remember having one of those, but then again, they're also associated with some degree of memory loss T_T), or progressive vision loss (which might mean neural degeneration like multiple sclerosis). but its too early to tell which one it is..    ah well..   guess I have to wait a month to see at least rule out the third one..
Waited for Marj and wixx at starbucks.. went to MOA after to meet up with Ghe and ate dinner at Razon's then went home..
and oh yeah.. all through out this day my simple sore throught from wednesday became full blown Laryngitis.. I've had no voice since.. made it a little akwar...
